The basics of traditional Chinese Medicine and Eating healthy

Some treatments take into account the balance of "Yin" in your body. The season, food, flavor, and food properties are all important aspects to maintain healthy internal organs and increasing our self-healing ability. As a pharmacist and a mother, I take these into consideration for prepping well balanced, seasonal meals.

sour Helps the liver and bile. When combined with something sweet, it is more appetizing as well as friendly to the spleen and stomach. It tightens the muscle, helps subdue inflammation and diarrhea.
[Examples] plums, apples, peaches, tangerines, vinegar, yogurt, etc.
bitter Helps the heart and small intestine. When combined with something spicy, it is more appetizing as well as gentle with your lungs and colon (large intestines).
It eliminates excess heat and moisture in the body, good such as headache, dizziness, and coughs. [Examples] balsam pears, tea, coffee, celery, garland chrysanthemum, etc.
sweet Helps the spleen and stomach. It is more appetizing when combined with something salty, and gentle to the stomach and bladder. It helps control the decay of the body, loosens body tension, vomiting problems, diarrhea and from chronic fatigue.
[Examples] honey, potatoes, beans, rice, eggplants, shrimp, meat, etc.
pungent Helps the lungs and colon. It is more appetizing when combined with something sour and friendly to the liver and bile. It helps improve blood circulation, sweating, a divergence effect, and good for colds.
[Examples] green onion, garlic, ginger, spices, leek, etc.
salty Helps the kidneys and bladder. It is more appetizing when combined with something bitter, and easy on the heart and small intestine. It helps with constipation and good for swelling of lymph glands. Blood pressure tends to rise when consuming too much salt.
[Examples] clams, seaweed, jellyfish, salt, miso, etc.

Improving skin elasticity & digestion using Natsume of tea

<POINT #1>

・For those who have dull skin colour and those who lack firmness in their skin
・For those who have a loss of appetite or have digestion problems

Jujubes (red dates) are available at supermarkets or places that sells Chinese or Korean ingredients. Preparing it is very simple !

(1) Remove eight of them from the bag, wash them well and remove the seeds.
(2) Use an earthenware or glass pot (non-metal) and put the jujubes that was just washed into it and add 1 liter of water.
(3) Boil for approximately an hour and adjust the fire accordingly.
(4) Add honey for sterilization and anti-inflammatory effects or ginger juice, which warms the body from within. They are also edible.

Jujubes are full of nutrition, , calms inflammations, has an excellent diuretic effect, contains many proteins and carbohydrates as well as organic acids such as malic acid and minerals. Dried Jujubes are said to contain more of these properties. In Chinese medicine, Jujubes are referred to as “thick Jujube” and has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for initial colds as in Chinese herbal drinks like “kakkonto”.
